BAUKS

This project   simmered for or a year with almost daily conversations between Pat Clark, the composer and myself shaping the overall concept.   Then one November night we took the project into the studio   with several good friends. Other than a few chord changes expressed verbally by Pat to the other players, we went to work, Improvising from beginning to end.   All of the root tracks were recorded in that one night.

Bauks, Holiday is a thoroughly unconventional piece of music.   On first listening those with a trained Opera ear might wonder at any connection between this piece and the wide and wonderful world of Opera.   It is my hope that someone will listen to, enjoy and ultimately recognize the potential of Holiday in its place as something of an Impressionist piece that may have been hung in the 1863 Salon des Refusés .
